Taoiseach to meet SDLP delegation in Dublin today
29/07/2005 - 07:51:23The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, is due to meet an SDLP delegation in Dublin today to discuss the latest developments in the peace process.
The meeting is expected to be dominated by discussions on how to restore power-sharing government in the North following the IRA's declaration that its armed struggle is over.
Yesterday, the SDLP's Alistair McDonnell said he believed the statement was clear and unambiguous and could be the foundation for real progress in the North.
However, unionists remain sceptical about whether the IRA will cease activity on the ground and most commentators believe it will be next year before talks on restoring power-sharing begin in earnest.
