Trevor Mortimer to face CDC probe

26/07/2005 - 11:03:35
Mayo corner forward Trevor Mortimer is to face the GAA's Central Disciplinary Committee (CDC) tomorrow in relation to an incident from the Connacht final two weeks ago.

Mortimer went scoreless in the game against Galway, and although referee John Gainey did not report Mortimer over the alleged incident, which has been caught on videotape, the CDC have asked him to answer a charge.

Mortimer will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Kerry wing back Tomás Ó Sé, who last month had a charge relating to the Kingdom's Munster semi-final tie with Limerick quashed.

Meanwhile, Connacht champions Galway could be without three-time AllStar Michael Donnellan for their All-Ireland SFC quarter-final on August 7.

The Salthill/Knocknacarra forward travelled to London last week to see a specialist regarding a tendon injury in his stomach and groin areas.

Now back in Galway, Donnellan has resumed light training, but is facing a fight to regain full fitness in time for the last-eight date.
