Hamstring woe for Corbett

26/07/2005 - 11:19:42
Tipperary forward Lar Corbett is losing his battle to be fit for Sunday's All-Ireland SHC quarter-final with Galway.

The Thurles Sarsfields marksman, who has hit 1-2 in three championship games to date, has been troubled in recent months with recurring hamstring injuries. Despite receiving intensive treatement, the 24-year-old looks a certain non-starter for Croke Park.

Tipp boss Ken Hogan could call on Evan Sweeney (hamstring) and John Carroll (finger), who are both showing signs of recovery. Bustling forward Carroll proved to be an influential second half inclusion when bagging a goal and a point in the Munster SHC final loss to Cork.

Meanwhile, the name of Donal O'Grady will be missing from the Limerick team when manager Joe McKenna names his side for Sunday's quarter-final clash with Kilkenny, tonight.

The Granagh/Ballingarry midfielder will be resigned to a watching brief at headquarters after failing to overcome a broken thumb injury, sustained three weeks ago against Galway.
