Bruton joins Rebel Army

26/07/2005 - 13:54:37
Cork City have completed the signing of former Cobh Ramblers and Waterford United striker Willie Bruton ending weeks of speculation that the 26-year-old striker was on his way to Turner's Cross.

Bruton left cash strapped Waterford United by mutual consent earlier this season and was immediately linked with a move to Cork, who have been on the lookout for further attacking options since the departures of Kevin Doyle and Shane Long to Reading.

"I felt over the last few weeks that we started to need an extra body or two in to help us," said manager Damien Richardson. "I needed somebody with experience and Willie Bruton fits that criteria perfectly."

Bruton has signed until the end of the season and arrives in Cork with an impressive scoring record, including 10 goals in the Premier Division last season with Waterford United.
