Baghdad: At least 17 killed in two suicide bomb attacks
25/07/2005 - 10:58:26Two suicide bombers have killed at least 17 people during separate attacks on a hotel and a police building in Baghdad this morning.
At least 15 people were killed and 30 others were injured in the first bombing at a checkpoint outside the al-Sadeer Hotel, which is popular with foreign security contactors.
The bomber drove a minivan packed with explosives into the checkpoint.
Around three hours later, another suicide bomber drove a car packed with explosives towards a checkpoint outside a palace being used by the police authorities.
Guards at the palace opened fire on the vehicle, but the driver still managed to detonate his bomb, killing two police officers and injuring 10 others.
