Monaghan murder investigation launched

Gardaí today launched a murder investigation after the discovery of a man’s body in a house in Co Monaghan.

A post-mortem exam confirmed last night that the Lithuanian national (aged 21) died from several stab wounds to his chest.

His body was found in the upstairs bedroom of a terraced house in Clones yesterday. Gardaí announced a murder inquiry after a post-mortem examination by State Pathologist Marie Cassidy at Cavan General Hospital confirmed the cause of death was due to stab wounds to the man’s upper body.

A forensic examination will continue today at the scene at Roslea Road. Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
