Two die in road smashes

Two men died today following separate road accidents.

A 27-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving left a road in the Redford area of Greystones, Co Wicklow and struck a pole.

The victim, who was from Wicklow, was travelling alone when the accident happened around 1am. No other vehicle was involved.

A 33-year-old Cork man died when his car struck a wall and pillar on Market Street, Skibbereen, Co. Cork, shortly before 2am.

A Garda spokesman said two passengers in the car were injured and taken to Bantry Hospital.

Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
