Greens slam Government's failure to meet Kyoto commitments
23/07/2005 - 09:18:24The Green Party has accused the Government of failing to fulfil its commitments under the terms of the Kyoto Protocol on gas emissions.
New figures show that Irish emissions are running at almost twice the agreed level.
Ciaran Cuffe of the Greens said “our climate change strategy is three years out of date”.
He said that simple measures such as an efficient public transport system that will take people out of cars and carbon levies targeting big business are the first steps we should be taking.
