Kiesa lands Jordan test role
Nicolas Kiesa has been handed the role of Friday test driver with Jordan ahead of this weekend’s German Grand Prix at Hockenheim.
Kiesa replaces Robert Doornbos, who earlier this week was named as a Minardi driver for the remainder of the season after the team opted to release Patrick Friesacher due to his sponsorship money drying up.
Kiesa, a former Formula Ford champion who drove in the last five races of the 2003 Formula One season for Minardi, will be hoping the association extends beyond tomorrow.
The 27-year-old Dane said: “I am very excited about the opportunity to drive for Jordan Grand Prix.
“I want to do a good job for the team and help them with their preparation and data gathering. I am really looking forward to this experience and I cannot wait to drive the car tomorrow at Hockenheim.”
Jordan managing director Colin Kolles described the opportunity for Kiesa as “well deserved”.
He added: “He has proven himself to be a talented and consistent driver in the junior categories, as well as at F1 level.
“We’re looking forward to working with him this weekend when we will also discuss our longer-term position.”
