‘Health worker received €1m from faulty payroll system’
21/07/2005 - 07:28:03The State's spending watchdog is reportedly investigating a €120m Department of Health computer payroll system that mistakenly paid an employee €1m.
Reports this morning said an expert review of the system had uncovered fundamental errors in the way it was set up.
The review reportedly found that the payroll incident was not picked up until the employee in question brought the matter to the attention of the department.
The system is the latest in a string of expensive state projects to be investigated by the Comptroller and Auditor General, who oversees the spending of taxpayers' money.
