US: al-Qaida bomb suspects arrested
20/07/2005 - 20:28:48Three al-Qaida members linked to bombings in the Baghdad area have been arrested in the past two days, the US military said today.
The three were identified as Qutaba Abdullah Mansour Hussam, Arkan Kashia Shani Ahmed and Mohammed Salman Abu Jassim, the command said in a statement.
It gave no other information about the suspects or their nationalities but said they were believed associated with al-Qaida’s chief bombing coordinator for Baghdad, Mohammed Rabi Hadi Jasser al-Dulaimi, also known as Abu Thar.
“Compelling intelligence led multinational forces to the neighbourhoods where these al-Qaida terrorists were hiding,” the statement added. “Once surrounded, these terrorists surrendered without a fight.”
The statement said Iraqi security forces were now searching for Abu Thar.
