Dublin weekend doctor cover unsatisfactory - Harney
20/07/2005 - 15:54:18The Minister for Health said this afternoon that she regarded the level of night and weekend doctor cover in north Dublin hospitals to be unacceptable.
Mary Harney was answering questions from the all-party committee on health on her priorities for the year ahead.
The Tánaiste said that problems associated with staffing were causing big problems: “On the whole north side of the city we have two doctors between six in the evening and eight or nine in the morning on the weekend. That’s to cater for 500,000 people. That is not adequate, that is not satisfactory.”
