Fermanagh forced to reshuffle for Carlow clash
Fermanagh manager Charlie Mulgrew has been forced to ring the changes ahead of tomorrow evening's Tommy Murphy Cup opener against Carlow in Enniskillen.
Since bowing out of the All-Ireland qualifiers at the hands of Down last month, Mulgrew's Ernesiders have met up just once, at a training session last night.
The second-tier Murphy Cup is hardly a real goal for Fermanagh, beaten All-Ireland semi-finalists last summer, but Mulgrew will, nonetheless, field his strongest possible side.
Missing from the line-up are regulars Rory Gallagher, who has withdrawn from the panel, his cousin Raymond Gallagher (hamstring), Ryan Keenan, who is travelling to the United States for the summer, and Ryan McCloskey (suspension).
Colm Bradley, Barry Owens and star midfielder Martin McGrath have also been ruled out.
Niall Tinney is back between the sticks after missing the Down defeat, while Johnny McGurn comes in at full-forward, with Kieran Donnelly, Damien Kelly, Fergal Reilly and Gerry O'Reilly all set for a run-out in attack.
Carlow, under new boss Liam Hayes, will name their line-up just before tomorrow's throw-in.
FERMANAGH (Tommy Murphy Cup v Carlow): N Tinney; S Goan, S Burns, P Sherry; R Johnston, S McDermott, D O'Reilly; L McBarron, M Murphy; K Donnelly, J Sherry, D Kelly; F Reilly, J McGurn, G O'Reilly.
