Addicks capture Smertin on loan deal
15/07/2005 - 16:16:47Charlton have signed midfielder Alexei Smertin on a year-long loan deal from Premiership rivals Chelsea.
The 30-year-old, who figured in 30 games for Chelsea last season, has already spent a season on loan in the Premiership – with Portsmouth shortly after his arrival at Stamford Bridge from Bordeaux.
Addicks boss Alan Curbishley said: “I would like to thank Jose Mourinho for allowing Alexei to join us on a season-long loan deal.”
