Ireland to observe two-minute silence for London victims
14/07/2005 - 07:54:39Ireland will observe a two-minute silence at noon today to remember the victims of last week's bomb attacks in London.
The silence is due to be held throughout the European Union and the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has called on all Irish people to participate.
Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Minister Dermot Ahern is due to sign London's book of condolences for the victims of the attacks when he meets the city's Lord Mayor, Ken Livingstone, later today.
Mr Ahern will observe the two minutes' silence at the Irish Embassy, where he is due to announce funding for emigrant groups.
Fifty-two people have been confirmed dead following the London bombings, which appear to have been carried out by four British suicide bombers of Pakistani origin.
