Garda fighting for his life after north Dublin stabbing
14/07/2005 - 07:21:49A garda is fighting for his life this morning after being stabbed in the Raheny area of north Dublin last night.
The attacked happened after two gardaí responded to a call from a member of the public about an incident on Main Street at around 11.30pm.
They are believed to have been confronted by two non-nationals armed with a knife when they arrived at the scene.
Both gardaí were subsequently stabbed, one of whom is in intensive care in the Mater Hospital this morning.
The other received treatment for minor injuries.
Two people have also been arrested in connection with the stabbings and are being held at Raheny garda station.
