Number of passport applications up 145%
11/07/2005 - 08:46:49The number of people applying for passports has risen by 145% in the last 10 years, according to figures published by the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The department said it was expecting to issue a total of 650,000 passports this year, compared to 265,000 in 1995.
It said the main reason for the increase was that Irish people are taking more foreign holidays.
