Bank customers urged to shop around for current accounts

The Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority has advised bank customers to shop around for the cheapest and most suitable current account.

The authority said a survey it conducted found that customers could save up to €100 in fees over the space of a year depending on the account they choose.

IFSRA also said many bank customers were paying for benefits they do not need or use.

It said banks offered a range of different current accounts and customers should examine the various fee structures before deciding which account suits them best.
