FG attacks Govt cutbacks to home help services
08/07/2005 - 14:07:02Fine Gael has attacked the Government and Health Minister Mary Harney over moves to introduce cutbacks in home help services in Dublin.
The party said today that home help organisers had received letters saying their budgets were being cut by 20%.
Richard Bruton, the Fine Gael deputy leader, said the cutbacks would force agencies to reduce the amount of hours they provide in home help to vulnerable people.
He accused Ms Harney of introducing the measure "in order to pay for her department's incompetence in the administration of nursing home charges".
