British share prices recover after London bomb attacks

Shares in Britain opened on a positive note today after a sharp fall yesterday in the wake of the London bombings.

The FTSE 100 index lifted 39.4 points this morning, recovering some of the 71-point fall suffered after the co-ordinated bomb attacks on three Underground trains and a double-decker bus.

Shares in transport and insurance firms bounced back to leave just a handful of blue-chip companies in the red.

However, the pound weakened further against both the euro and the dollar.
