Emergency Planning Task Force meeting planned for next week
07/07/2005 - 17:09:38A special meeting of the Irish Government Task Force on Emergency Planning has been called for next week.
It will re-assess the level of terrorist threat to Ireland, which is currently set at low, as well as the measures that are in place to deal with any attack.
Security chiefs are scheduled to meet next Wednesday.
Minister for Defence Willie O'Dea said there is no reason to believe international terrorists are targeting us: “The level of intelligence indicates that the risk to Ireland is still low,” he said.
“In relation to the possible motivation for an attack here, I think the focus appears to be on countries that were directly involved in the war in Iraq.”
