07/07/2005 - 14:48:57
A forensic excavation for the remains of a baby boy thought to have been buried in the back garden of a house in Dalkey, south Dublin was called off today.

Gardaí confirmed the search for the body, believed to have been hidden in the ground 30 years ago, ended after 10 days of digging by specialist teams.

It is understood the excavation failed to uncover any human remains.

A Garda spokesman said new information had been passed on to detectives but there was no significant find during the dig.

“Nothing of any apparent evidential value was discovered,” he said.

“The investigation continues and information not previously related to gardai has now been submitted.

“All aspects of this complicated investigation are being pursued and progressed.”
