ISEQ plummets 200 points
The ISEQ index of shares plummeted 198.9 (3.04%) points this morning as news of a series of blasts in London shattered confidence on the Dublin and London markets.
The financials were among the worst hit. AIB was down 83c to €16.80 by 11am. Bank of Ireland shares fell back 48c to €12.87, while Anlo Irish shares slipped 33c to €9.92.
Irish Life & Permanent fell back 42c to €13.95.
Construction shares were also badly hit. CRH shed 74c to stand at €20.95, while Kingspan was down 40c at €9.71.
Meanwhile, Ryanair shares lost a whopping 56c (8.66%) to €5.91. The low cost carrier today announced two new routes from Shannon to Bristol and Nantes.
The new route to Bristol will start daily on October 30, 2005 and the new route to Nantes will operate three times a week from November 1, 2005, bringing the total number of destinations served by Ryanair at Shannon to 16.
