ICTU draws up rights guide for foreign domestic workers

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) has reportedly drawn up a guide aimed at protecting domestic workers in private Irish homes.

The hiring of foreign women as domestic workers has grown in popularity in recent years due to Ireland's increasing affluence.

However, there has been anecdotal evidence that some wealthy families are exploiting domestic staff.

This morning's reports said the ICTU guide, due to be published next week, would outline the rights of these workers and the obligations and responsibilities of their employers.
