Imbruglia joins G8 activists

Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia felt compelled to join activists at the G8 summit in Scotland after an emotional trip to poverty-stricken Africa.

The Torn singer visited Nigeria and Ethiopia and witnessed the horrific effects of medical condition fistula - obstructed labour during childbirth - which affects millions of women in the developing world.

Imbruglia says: "It's a horrendous problem which could be solved properly with proper medical care. But over there they can't go to a hospital.

"These women are in a hut by themselves in labour for up to four days. It must be terrifying."
