Chrissie to quit EastEnders
EastEnders actress Tracy-Ann Oberman – Queen Vic landlady Chrissie Watts – is quitting the soap.
The star, 35, will leave later this year after Dirty Den’s body is discovered buried in the Queen Vic cellar.
Oberman, who has played Chrissie for a year, decided to move on following discussions with soap bosses about where her character could go.
Chrissie killed her husband with a doorstop before burying him in the Queen Vic.
His hidden body is set to be uncovered on the day his adopted daughter Sharon gets married.
The actress said: “I’ve loved playing Chrissie Watts. It’s rare to find such a strong female character.
“I’ve made some great friends during my time at EastEnders, and I’m really going to miss all the cast and crew.”
An EastEnders spokesman said: “EastEnders and Tracy-Ann have mutually agreed that the revealing of Den’s body would inevitably lead to Chrissie’s departure.
“How she leaves is a closely guarded secret but her exit storyline will be spectacular.
“Tracy-Ann has made a terrific impact as Chrissie Watts and she will be missed. The door has been left open for her character to return.”
