Haughey impact on Ireland negative, claims poll

An online survey has revealed 64% of respondents believe Charles Haughey had a negative impact on Irish society.

The poll was carried out by Empathy Research among Pigsback.com members. 43% of respondents said they had watched some of the RTE series on the former Taoiseach.

Elsewhere the survey found 88% of respondents approved of his IFSC initiative in Dublin while 91% agreed with his free travel initiative.

45% of respondents agreed with his according tax free status to artists but 88% disapproved of his anti-contraceptive position in the 70's.
