Red Cross member kidnapped and killed in Haiti
01/07/2005 - 16:50:28The international Red Cross said today that one of its staff members was kidnapped and killed in Haiti.
Joel Cauvin, a Haitian staff member of the International Committee of the Red Cross, was abducted on Wednesday evening and found dead near his home the next day, an ICRC statement said.
The ICRC said it was “extremely concerned about the growing insecurity in Haiti.”
Yesterday, a kidnapped woman reportedly working for the Haitian Red Cross was freed in a raid on a house by UN peacekeepers.
