Cheevers in line for Waterford United job

Waterford United look set to appoint caretaker Giles Cheevers as manager for the rest of the season, with former playing legend and boss Alfie Hale acting as advisor.

Cheevers has been asked to stay on and is keen on the idea though he has been told he will have to sell players.

First to go looks set to be captain John Frost looks set to join St Patrick’s Athletic after having talks while on-loan defender Kevin Doherty seems certain to join Bray Wanderers.

Sean Finn, Paul Crawley, Willie Doyle and Limerick target Pat Purcell also look set to move while Cheevers has already signed Daryl Kavanagh from Carrick United and Jimmy Fyffe from Limerick while he also wants Kildare County’s Sean Francis.
