Balde will stay - Strachan
Bobo Balde has decided to stay at Celtic, manager Gordon Strachan has revealed.
The giant defender had a clause in his contract which allowed him to move on in the summer if he wanted.
It seemed as though a switch to the German Bundesliga was imminent at one point, with Bayern Munich and Schalke credited with strong interest.
But Strachan revealed: “He will be staying. It is good to have good players round you – that’s the secret of success as a manager.
“Forget all this nonsense about tactics – good players make good teams so the more good players I have around me the more chance myself and the club will have of success.”
New skipper Neil Lennon was also pleased the 29-year-old was staying put.
He said: “It is tremendous news. He has been a rock for us over the last four or five years.
“You need all the quality players you can get.
“We thought he was going for a while so it is a great boost for all the players and obviously the manager that he has decided to stay.”
