Offaly nursing home staff stage sit-in
01/07/2005 - 17:24:50Fifty-six staff are staging a sit-in at a Co Offaly nursing home, claiming they haven't been paid in three weeks.
The owners of Tullybeg Retirement Village have ceased involvement with the nursing home and its 36 residents have now been transferred to alternative accommodation as a result.
Nurses and staff at the home said they were willing to stay there as long as it takes in order to get paid.
Health care assistant Charlotte Hennessey said many of the staff had gone without pay for the last three weeks: “We just came in to work and did our job, and did everything we could to help the patients, yet we haven't received any wages."
