Drug overdoses, heading-down rockers, would-be stars, terminally-ill spouses; so there's not a lot of laughs in this sadly disjointed drama of unfortunate and unsympathetic folk.

Only Nolte emerges with his reputation intact but for the rest it's a dismal, unengaging exercise in a film lacking in any attraction.
