Benchmarking costs €1.2bn per year - report
30/06/2005 - 15:52:13A report published today states that the benchmarking process costs the taxpayer around €1.2bn per annum. The report was commissioned by the small business group ISME.
Economist Jim Power said that the benchmarking was based on the flawed premise that the public sector has been struggling to recruit and retain workers.
The average public sector wage is now more than 40% higher than the average industrial wage,” he said.
