ISME lauds 'sensible' green-card scheme
29/06/2005 - 16:38:07Independent business organisation ISME has welcomed the plan by Minister Micheal Martin to introduce a green card system for skilled migrant workers as a 'sensible' decision.
ISME chief executive, Mark Fielding said foreign workers will continue to account for a significant percentage of the Irish workforce in the future.
"A green card system is a prerequisite to targeting highly skilled employees and it is important that official policy reflects this without undermining the significant demands for lower skilled workers," said Mr Fielding.
