Five killed in Iraq bombing spate

28/06/2005 - 14:29:28
Five people were killed and at least nine others were injured today in one of three car bomb explosions in a city north of Baghdad.

They were killed when a car bomb exploded just 15 yards from the headquarters of a police station.

The police station housed an Iraqi quick reaction force in Baqouba, north-east of Baghdad, said Captain Nihad Jamal Ibrahim of the city police.

The other two exploded near a petrol station, but caused no injures while the third detonated in Baqouba.

No one was injured in that blast as police had time to cordon off the area, said police spokesman Mudhafar AL-Mujamaie.
