Search for baby’s body expected to last several days

28/06/2005 - 07:32:35
Gardaí in Co Dublin are continuing to dig up the garden of a house in Dalkey as part of a search for an infant believed to have been buried there around 30 years ago.

The search began yesterday and is related to the discovery of a baby girl's body in nearby Dun Laoghaire in 1973.

The mother of that baby, who was 11 at the time of the birth, came forward in 1995 after recollecting the matter during counselling sessions in Britain.

She has now told gardaí that she may have had another baby boy in the early to mid-1970s and that he may have been buried in the garden of the house where the dig is currently taking place.

Gardaí have said they expect their search to last for a number of days.
