Govt facing further attack over Garda corruption

The Government is expected to come under further attack in the Dáil today over its handling of the corruption scandal involving gardaí in Donegal.

The Labour party is insisting that Minister for Justice Michael McDowell and his predecessor, John O'Donoghue, have many questions to answer in relation to the matter.

Labour has already accused the pair of failing to act when they received a summary of the Carty Report drawn up following an internal investigation into the actions of Donegal gardaí.

It says the Morris Tribunal was only established after the opposition persisted in raising questions.
