National Aquatic Centre leaking
27/06/2005 - 08:13:21The National Aquatic Centre - built two years ago at a cost of €62m to the Irish taxpayer - is reportedly leaking millions of litres of water through massive cracks in its floor.
Reports this morning said more than 20 large cracks had opened up on both floors of the centre's underground plant room, possibly due to subsidence.
Earlier this year, the roof of the aquatic centre blew off during a storm and the Government body with responsibility for the facility is trying to remove Dublin Waterworld Ltd as the operator.
DWL was appointed to operate and maintain the centre in west Dublin despite having share capital of just €127 and no fixed assets.
