Rice denies Zellweger romance
Irish singer/songwriter Damien Rice has rubbished reports he once romanced Renee Zellweger - insisting they were always just "sweet friends".
The O star was surrounded by media speculation after being spotted spending time with the Bridget Jones beauty, resulting in a furore when the blonde actress suddenly married country rocker Kenny Chesney last month.
But Rice is adamant he simply "hung out" with Zellweger, and he is thrilled his friend has found marital happiness.
He explains: "We... we hung out, that's all.
"People would see us hanging out and immediately think - well, you know.
"She's really very nice indeed, Renee, so intelligent, so sharp and sorted out.
"I learned a lot from her, and we became very close and sweet new friends.
"I'm so happy for her now. And I'm glad I met her. She's a lovely woman."
