Up and down round for Havret

France’s Gregory Havret went from the sublime to the ridiculous at the start of his third round in the French Open at Le Golf National today.

Two under par overnight Havret birdied all the first four holes – and then came crashing back down with a double-bogey six at the 370-yard fifth.

It was still a start Colin Montgomerie would have traded. Only one under at halfway the seven-time European number one, nine adrift of 50-year-old leader Eduardo Romero, did not drop a stroke over the opening seven holes, but his only birdie was on the fifth.
