Carroll gets taste of F1 at Jerez
Ireland's Adam Carroll got his first taste of this season’s BAR after testing an older model over the winter.
The Portadown driver is a front-runner in the GP2 Series and part of BAR’s young driver programme. He was impressed by his short stint at Jerez.
“This was my first opportunity to drive the 2005 BAR-Honda and it was good to get a feel for the car,” Carroll said.
“I only completed 27 laps but the car felt very good and well-balanced – a big improvement on the 2004 car which I drove last year.”
Meanwhile BAR's Jenson Button travels to France for the next grand prix with renewed confidence after BAR-Honda’s successful test at Jerez.
BAR, the only team this season not to have scored a point, were one of the seven to pull out of the United States Grand Prix on the warm-up lap.
But Button put that fiasco to the back of his mind to complete preparations for Magny-Cours, declaring their week a success.
He said: “We have had a positive test in Jerez this week, completing a lot of mileage on both days.
“We focused mainly on set-up and aerodynamic development, alongside tyre testing for Magny Cours. We also looked at reliability work with the engine which was excellent.
“Overall it was a good positive test before we travel to France for the next race.”
