Sit-in ends at Cork butcher

A two day sit-in at a renowned Cork butcher's shop has ended this afternoon.

39 workers are being let go from O'Donovan's of Princes Street when it closes down next Tuesday.

Staff were concerned about securing a fair redundancy package and management at the company have now agreed to meet with their union, Mandate.

Subsequently the workers have agreed to leave the premises but are maintaining a picket at the site.

Spokesman Jim O'Connell the meeting will take place within the next 48 hours.
