Should we ever go back to the places of our past?

In this excellent New Zealand drama war photographer MacFadyen returns after 17 years to his home to attend his father's funeral and to try to mend shattered family fences.

There is also the matter of a broken romance to put right; but his efforts lead, as they must, to tragedy.

The acting, particularly that of MacFadyen and Barclay, is outstanding, the directing brilliantly contained and the NZ locations suitably bleakly beautiful.

What we have here is a drama with solid elements of thriller and romance; and it's quite a cinema gem.
