BA increases fuel surcharge
24/06/2005 - 07:18:36Customers flying with British Airways this summer were today hit with another increase in the airline’s fuel surcharge.
BA said the continuing rise in oil prices to almost $60 a barrel meant an £8 (€12) hike in its long-haul charge to £24 (€36) was “regrettably unavoidable”.
The levy – £48 (€72) for a return trip – applies to tickets from Monday and came as BA warned that its fuel bill for this financial year would be around £1.6bn (€2.4bn), some £450m (€679m) higher than a year earlier.
