Talks on sacking of Cork rail inspector

23/06/2005 - 09:15:28
Talks aimed at resolving a dispute over the sacking of an Iarnród Éireann ticket inspector are due to get underway at the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) today.

Rail workers based in Cork had threatened to go on strike from midnight last night because of the matter, but the action was called off yesterday after the LRC intervened.

SIPTU has accused Iarnród Éireann of refusing to reinstate the sacked ticket inspector, despite his success in an unfair dismissal case.

The union has warned that strike action is still possible in the future if the man is not re-hired.
