Five arrested as gardaí swoop in vice probe
Five people were arrested and a number of houses raided by detectives investigating a vice ring, gardaí said today.
Three non-national women and two Irish men were detained in yesterday’s early-morning swoops across Co Wexford. Two houses were raided by gardaí as part of the investigation.
A garda spokeswoman said: “As part of an ongoing operation into organised prostitution in Ireland, gardaí from the South Eastern Region searched two properties in the Bunclody and Enniscorthy areas yesterday.
“Three female non nationals and two males were arrested and detained in various stations in Carlow and Wexford.”
All five were later released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Gardaí said the investigation into organised prostitution in the area was continuing.
