Dublin hosts conference on problems facing refugees

A conference on issues affecting asylum-seekers and refugees in Ireland is being held in Dublin today.

Delegates at the conference have been calling on the Government to do more to address the problems facing foreigners who have fled persecution to set up new homes in this country.

They want the Government to address misunderstandings about asylum-seekers and refugees within the population at large.

Other issues being discussed are the failure to recognise foreign qualifications held by refugees and the need for cheap and accessible English-language classes.
