Rugby world shocked at death of popular student
The Irish Tag Rugby Association and the Irish Rugby Football Union have extend their sympathies to the family of Hugh Williams who died suddenly after a Tag Rugby match last night.
Mr Williams, a student, collapsed on the sideline having finished playing in a game for the Barbarians at Templeogue College grounds, Templeville Road, Dublin.
He was attended to immediately by his fellow team members. The ambulance crew arrived shortly afterwards, but he was pronounced dead at Tallaght Hospital.
"Hugh was a regular and popular competitor in the Tag Rugby scene, which is stunned by his sudden death," said Mr Williams.
"ITRA / IRFU and all its affiliated players and referees extend its deepest sympathy to Hugh's parents, family and friends. We also wish to thank the ambulance crew and hospital staff for their support."
A minute's silence will be observed at all matches this week in honour of Hugh. The funeral arrangements for Hugh when made, will be notified on the www.tagrugby.ie
