O'Callaghan rejects two-year City deal

Cork City playmaker George O’Callaghan has rejected a new two-year contract at Turner’s Cross, but has insisted he still wants to negotiate a new deal.

Talks between O’Callaghan and the club started last week, though the first offer was not acceptable to the midfielder.

“If it is not sorted out within the next two weeks then I am going to wait until November,” insisted O’Callaghan, who has kept an open mind on his future.

With a number of English and League of Ireland clubs keeping an eye on the situation, O’Callaghan knows he will have a number of offers and insists that he must make the right decision for the sake of his career.

“I’ve made bad decisions in the past and I’ve got to make sure this is the right decision. I’m at the age now when this must be the right decision.”
