Noseda to have Salut Cherry-ripe
Jeremy Noseda has indicated that Salut D’Amour will be seen out next in the Group Two Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket on July 5.
The Danehill Dancer filly finished with a flourish in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot at York last week but was never able to get close enough to seriously challenge Flashy Wings.
Noseda is ready to raise the National Stakes winner up to a six-furlong trip that could show her in an even better light.
Speaking on his website www.jeremynoseda.com, the Newmarket trainer said: “I thought she gave a fabulous performance to finish second in the Queen Mary. She made up a lot of ground inside the final furlong and appeared to finish with a lot of gas in the tank.
“She will head to the Cherry Hinton at Newmarket on July 5 and the step up to six furlongs will suit her well.”
Noseda confirmed that the Lowther Stakes and the Cheveley Park represent the longer-term objectives for mightily impressive Albany Stakes scorer La Chunga.
As for what is next for the daughter of first-season sire More Than Ready, nothing is set in stone.
Noseda said: “Without doubt she put up a top-class effort to win in the manner she did. She confirmed the serious level of ability she has shown at home.
“At this moment we would be considering the Cherry Hinton, but I feel it could be better to give her a little more time.
“The Princess Margaret or the Prix Robert Papin could be options. In the longer term, her targets will hopefully be the Lowther and the Cheveley Park.”
Noseda also saddled Vague to finish second, three and a half lengths behind La Chunga, at York.
The runner-up is now set for some easy time after three races in the space of four weeks.
The handler added: “Vague exceeded my expectations in finishing second to La Chunga. Having had a fairly busy campaign to this point, I feel we will give her a little break before campaigning her over seven furlongs and a mile.”
